The evidence
Independent research on whether coaching, training, and team work move the needle — not our claims. The strongest evidence is for capability, behavior, and performance, not universal ROI.
Percentile and “2 in 3” figures are approximate translations of standardized research effects. The science does not support universal 5× or 8× ROI claims. The full research, with citations →
For teams
Unclear roles, low trust, conflict that stalls delivery, deadlines that keep slipping. That’s not a failure of effort — it’s how the team is operating, and it can be diagnosed and fixed.
“Collaborating with Mike over the past several months has given me the confidence to tackle decisions I had been postponing for far too long.

A CEO and most of his direct reports had the friction everyone could feel — stalled decisions, commitments that evaporated, a working theory that the trouble was trust and personalities. Brought in to work with the full leadership team, I had them sort every friction point into four buckets: goals, roles, processes, relationships. Almost everything landed in the first three; the relationship bucket was nearly empty. So we worked the structure — mapped each stuck decision to an owner and an escalation point, pinned down what “accountability” actually meant when no two of them had been using the word the same way, and rebuilt their commitments so each one left the room with a name, a date, and a way to know it happened.
The relationship repair they thought they needed mostly wasn’t needed. The CEO’s team still runs on those tools — they’ve cascaded them to develop their next layer of managers.
A leader told his whole company his calendar was open. Nobody booked. One question got to it: when you were the one in the trenches, did you ever drop in on your boss just to report how things were going? He laughed — “Never.” In a hierarchy, access to the top isn’t an invitation; it’s a risk, and his people were reading the room exactly right. So he stopped waiting and built a system to go to them: structured, low-stakes, clear intent.
Ground truth started flowing within two weeks. He’d had the right intention — he just never looked at it from where his team was standing.
A founder several years into building the business was sitting on a set of consequential decisions — the kind without clean answers, which is exactly why they kept getting deferred. Over several months of one-to-one work, we stopped treating them as a to-do list and started working the live decisions in session — surfacing the patterns behind the deferrals, and putting words to the blind spots that kept the hardest options out of focus.
The deferred decisions got made, including the heaviest one on his list — and with them came clearer direction and a sharper read of himself as a leader.
Simple by design. Most of the value lives in the third step.

If we move forward, we design the engagement together. The cadence, the focus areas, the outcomes you want to be accountable to.
Most of the value isn’t new information. It’s identifying what’s in the way of the leader you already know how to be, then removing it.
We work the plan, measure what’s changing, and adjust. You stay accountable to the version of yourself you came here to become.

Notes on leadership, judgment, and operating under uncertainty.

We've all heard that leadership matters, but one person endeavored to demonstrate and measure the effect. His findings shook the world and upended decades of assumptions. The bad news - all humans carried the capacity for great evil. But the good? The good news was that leadership could also bring out our best.

When everyone in the room agrees, when no one will speak up to say what others will not or cannot, when consensus masks the fear of speaking truth to power, the Fool can cut across convention to deliver the wisdom that every leader needs to hear.

Stories are a defining aspect of human culture. Stories preserve heritage and history, educate and teach values, preserve cultural identity and language, and support community cohesion and rituals. Stories are also a powerful leadership tool that can change an organization and influence an individual in ways nothing else can.
